How to set up a wireless router without your computer

Can I install a wireless router without a computer?

Nowadays it is very rare that someone doesn’t have a computer, although times are changing as people start to feel more and more comfortable using only smartphones and tablets to access the internet.

However, if you belong to one of the few races, or if your desktop/laptop has escaped, or if for some reason you don’t have a computer and router to install, this is quite possible.

Of course, it is much better to have a computer to set up a wireless router, because mobile devices – although they can perform some computer functions – still have limited capabilities compared to a laptop/desktop computer.

And if you think about it, if you don’t have a computer, it might be more convenient, not to say practical, to just ask for a 3G/4G plan.

The answer is yes!

2. Fully charged battery (or make sure your device does not die in the middle of the process).

The next one is optional, but very useful if the default login doesn’t work properly…

How do I set up a Wi-Fi router without acomputer?

Configuration with Android:

1) Connect the router and wait a minute or two until it is fully operational.

The SSID or network name usually contains the brand and numbers (e.g. NETGEARXX). You can also view the back of the router: it prints out the SSID and Wi-Fi password.

3) You will be asked to enter your password. Send him in.

4) When logging in, open the browser of the device. Enter the IP address in the address bar. In general, the default IP address is http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1. Or take a look at the sticker on the back of your router – that’s usually where you’ll find the IP address. If this does not work, run the network detection application installed in the device.

If you are using FING, you can find the IP address under the SSID of the network you are connected to, next to the Wi-Fi icon.

FING is available for free on Android and iOS – download FING here

5) You will be asked to register. The default username is usually admin, and the default password is usually password. Otherwise look at the back of the router, because there is also a logbook with detailed information.

6) See, there you are!

Configuration with iOS:

1) Connect the router and wait a minute or two until it is fully operational.

2) Use your iPhone/iPad to turn on Wi-Fi in the setup menu. The SSID or network name of a router usually contains the brand and numbers. You can also view the back of the router: it prints out the SSID and Wi-Fi password. Touch the SSID for the connection.

3) You will be asked to enter your password.

4) When logging in, open the browser of the device. Enter the IP address in the address bar. The default IP address is usually http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1. You can also refer to the sticker on the back of your router.

If this does not work as described above for configuring with Android, downloading and installing FING, you will find the IP address under the network SSID. You can also try Netti. Netty is also free.

5) You will be asked to register. The default username is usually admin, and the default password is usually password. Otherwise look at the back of the router, because there is also a logbook with detailed information.

And I hope you participate!

If this default data does not work, try rebooting your router.

Don’t forget that all saved settings will be lost when resetting!

Normally the reset button is located on the back of the modem, painted red and marked as a reset or factory reset button.

Just take a sharp object such as a pen or paper clip and press the recessed button for 30 seconds to a minute, or the time it takes for the router light to flash and turn on again.

Then try logging in again with the default settings. If this still doesn’t work, contact your router’s customer service for assistance.

You can also try to restart at 30 30 30 30 30.
