How to Reduce Loss of Xbox Live Packet

Every Xbox player probably knows that the sound is triggered when the error message You have a high packet loss blinks on their screen. This complicated message has ruined many game sessions.

If you receive this message often and would like to know how best to solve this problem, please continue reading.

Xbox 100% packet loss, what is it?

Package loss occurs when data sent over a computer network and/or the Internet does not reach its destination.

In small amounts this is not necessarily a problem, but if the percentage of packet loss starts to increase, it can cause problems with the reliability of your network.

In the end this can result in stopping your games and an error message You have a large package loss.

How to reduce packet loss in real timeXbox

There are many solutions you can use to remedy package loss. Any decision will depend on the root cause of the loss of the package.

Problems with packet loss are usually due to the reliability of your Internet connection, especially since many of us now have more than enough connections to play on the Internet.

However, if you want to check your connection speed, the following link explains which Internet speeds Microsoft recommends.

If your wireless router is not faulty, the only extra hardware you need to test these solutions is fortunately an Ethernet cable.

Performance cycle (reboot) of the console and/or wireless router

The first and easiest thing to do is to turn the device on (off and on again) where your console and wireless router are located.

Indeed, sometimes a simple problem or network error can be solved by resetting the network connection.

Probably the easiest way to do this is to disconnect the Xbox and plug it back in again. Just open the network settings and select Exit offline.

If this does not work, you can try rebooting your modem and/or router by turning it off and leaving it off for a few minutes (do the same with your Xbox). Then turn on your Xbox and check the connection.

Turn off third-party headsets (when using Wi-Fi)

If restarting the connection fails, the problem may be due to a malfunction of another device. One of the main culprits are external headsets that transmit on the same frequency as your wireless router.

To verify that this is not a problem, turn off the headset of a third party and check your network to determine if the problem no longer exists.

Check for other interference (when using Wi-Fi).

If the headsets of third parties are not a problem, there may still be interference from other electronic devices or even from a static object.

The disorders can be divided into active and passive disorders.

Active interference comes from electronic devices such as microwaves, baby monitors and other wireless networks, while passive interference comes from objects that can interfere with the wireless signal. These can be walls, filing cabinets, mirrors, etc.

10 ways to improve your wireless signal

To find out if this is a problem, try to disable/disable all objects that may interfere with the wireless signal and move all objects in a straight line between the Xbox and the router.

Use the cables!

Another possibility is to eliminate interference, as the problem is to try to use an Ethernet cable instead of Wifi, if possible. This removes any possibility of radio interference from the equation.

In fact, we recommend the use of Ethernet cables wherever possible. Not only is WiFi half-duplex (not ideal for online gaming), but unlike the preference for full-duplex Ethernet, it is usually the second best way to send sensitive data traffic.

Check the distance (when using Wi-Fi)

Distance can be a problem, because even if you can connect to a wireless network, the further away you are, the weaker the signal will be.

In addition, interference problems can occur even too close to the router.

According to Microsoft, the ideal distance between the Xbox console and the router is 1.5 to 15 meters. So, if possible, try installing the Xbox at this distance.

Check for problems with Xbox Live

If none of these solutions work for you, it is also possible that the loss of your package is due to a problem with Xbox live.

If this is the case, all you can do is wait until the Xbox solves the problem.

About the tips

If none of these solutions work for you, it is also possible that the loss of your package is due to a problem with Xbox live.

The cause of the packet loss problem may be related to your router. To see if it’s true:

  • First connect the Xbox directly to the router using an Ethernet cable and perform a speed test.
  • Then connect the Xbox to the modem and check the speed.

Use to perform a speed test…

With direct connection to a modem, a slight increase in speed is expected compared to the connection to the router.

However, if the speed between your modem connection and your router increases, you may experience problems with your router.

If you know the problem is related to your router and your service provider is unable or unwilling to help you, you can reset your router to its default values.

Be warned that you will lose all configuration settings! Always contact your Internet Service Provider first!
